The first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, opened and officially opened Tema Secondary School on September 22, 1961. It is both a day school and a private school. The school is in the area between Communities Two and Five. It is about 200 meters away from the hall of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). There are 1,873 students (1873), and 169 staff members. Along with their academic training, students take part in extracurricular activities and are urged to start official clubs and societies to keep themselves busy in their free time.

To provide quality education and moral uprightness to every Ghanaian / non-Ghanaian child of school-going age, qualified and placed in the school having passed successfully in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.).”

  • Third (3rd) in the Reginal performance league in 2014/2015 WASSCE. And also won Best
    School performance and Environmental Cleanliness Award during the National Best Teacher Award held in Tamale.
  • The school was selected to participate in a National Science and Maths Quiz in Legon.
  • It has a strong Science and Business Units.
    And also does well in sports. It is the only school in Zone 4 offering Badminton and Hockey for now. It won zone 4 Inter schools’ sports (Games).”
