St. Margaret Mary Senior High Technical

MISSION OF THE SCHOOL

The St. Margaret Mary Senior High School in Dansoman, which is located in the Greater Accra Region, has the following objectives:

  1. Providing high-quality Catholic education for all students admitted to the school.
  2. Allowing all students to have equal opportunities for development in all spheres of education.

VISION

  1. Develop students holistically through the 3H’s-the head, the hands, and the heart.
  2. Create confidence in students through co-curricular activities where talented students are duly acknowledged and rewarded. By this, the student body is encouraged to develop their innate capabilities.
  3. Develop young men and women who are educated, well-groomed, and disciplined people with a conscience.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

In October of 1996, the St. Margaret Mary Parish in Dansoman opened a new private day school that welcomed students of both sexes. The institution was given the name St. Margaret Mary Senior High School. On May 24, 1997, the school was formally opened for business by the Honourable Kwabena Kyere, who served at the time as Deputy Minister of Education. During the occasion, His Grace Archbishop (Emeritus) Dominic Kwadwo Andoh, who served as Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra at the time, graciously provided his distinguished patronage. The late Mr. Anthony Aidoo, who had a distinguished career in teaching and later retired, served as the school’s first headmaster. The total number of pupils was 23, with 17 females and 4 males among them. There were 4 instructors.

On September 2nd and 3rd, 1998, during the school’s second year of operation, it was physically moved from the St. Bernadette Soubirous campus to the first uncompleted building at its current location. This relocation took place during the school’s second academic year.

Because Ebenezer secondary school allowed the school’s final-year pupils to write their SSSCE exams on its grounds during the school’s formative years (2000-2003), the school owes Ebenezer secondary school a debt of gratitude.

On September 16, 2003, after the passing of Mr. Anthony Aidoo, the 1st Headmaster, the school appointed a new headmaster. On secondment from Ebenezer Secondary School in Dansoman, where he served as an Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Francis Kwashie Ahiafor assumed complete control of the institution and assumed the role of Headmaster there. To aid in the management of the educational institution, the first Board of Governors of the school was established on January 16, 2004, and they were sworn into office on that same day.

The board of Governors of the school, with the approval of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, generously gave their consent for the institution to be integrated into the public school system in September of 2005.

By the favour of God, the infrastructure of the school has seen tremendous development in recent years, and the number of students enrolled there has also grown.
