HISTORY
The history of Ghana’s Kinbu Secondary Technical School can be traced all the way back to 1874, at the time that Governor Rowe was in office.[1] The school was founded in order to accommodate mulatto children, who, at the time, had a difficult time socializing with white students due to segregation policies. It was said that the mulattoes felt more closeness to the indigenous people than they did to the whites, and it was really this feeling that made it feasible for the school to be established. It was known as the government Boy’s Senior School (Rowe-Road’s School during the time of the colonial regime, but it later changed its name to the Kinbu Middle Boys School.
The Educational Reform School was initiated in 1976, and The Kinbu Middle Boys School was chosen to be one of the first ten Experimental Junior Secondary Schools in Ghana to serve as a pilot school. This was done as part of the Educational Reform Programme. At the moment, it provides instruction in subjects including commerce, general arts, visual arts, home economics, metal work, woodwork, building construction, as well as scientific and technical sciences. It is located right adjacent to the Ghana Education Service building in Tudu.
